Quality of Living Global Rankings

Ran across this interesting article on quality of living rankings in the world. The U.S. doesn’t do so well, although I was happy to see that San Francisco made the list.

Wiggum’s Photos

I don’t know Wiggum03, but he takes some of the most wonderful photos I’ve ever come across. His San Francisco photos are wonderful and come as close as any I’ve seen to showing the true beauty of the city.

Arthur Frommer: A tribute to Canada

Most people that live in the USA have a pretty high opinion of the place, and while it is a pretty wonderful country to live in, there are other spots on the planet worth a visit. Instead, Americans (a misnomer by the way, since there are non-USA North Americans as well as the residents of those Americas south of Mexico) tend to bash places they think are inferior to home. Canada in particular gets a bad rap from people in this country and I can’t for the life of me figure out why. In the few times I’ve visited Canada I’ve always found it to be a wonderful country, full of wonderful people.

This morning I ran across this piece from Arthur Frommer and thought it was a nice read.

Oh Canada!

Cities By Foot

Ran across Cities By Foot in an e-mail from the San Francisco Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. It’s sponsored by Crocs, but looks like it has some pretty good touristy info for the few cities it covers. The important thing, of course is that it includes San Francisco.

Enjoy.

Walkscore

Have you ever heard of Walkscore.com? Neither had I until this morning when I heard that they ranked my favorite city the most walkable city in the US. 17 neighborhoods in the city are considered walkers paradises.

Here’s a quote from the website:
“The top 17 neighborhoods in San Francisco are Walkers’ Paradises. 90% of San Francisco residents have a Walk Score of 70 or above. 99% have a Walk Score of at least 50—and 1% live in Car-Dependent neighborhoods.”
